Anti-Pop Consortium
Reunited after a few years of suggestive quietude, Anti-Pop Consortium is a spacey and poetically digressive hip-hop troupe that doles out brains and fantasy in equal measure. Made up of High Priest, Beans, M. Sayyid, and producer Earl Blaize, the group took form around the classic 2000 album Tragic Epilogue, and has been working on ways to rush into the future ever since. With its 2009 album, Fluorescent Black, APC resumes its playful back-and-forth on the tussle between man and machine with typical bravado, dropping its tongue-twisting techno-babble over complex circuits of electro-rock rhythms.
