Archers Of Loaf
Archers Of Loaf formed in the halcyon/tragic years of the ’90s when every band seemed poised to “make it.” Of course, few of those bands had anything to show from it but major label pink slips and an expensive video rotating on 120 Minutes. Archers Of Loaf nevertheless came to embody the solid and workmanlike output that marked the Chapel Hill independent rock scene. After some mainstream flirtation and a tour with Weezer, the band eventually shuttered, with frontman Eric Bachmann moving on to concentrate his efforts on less-brittle side projects like Crooked Fingers. With the music industry’s long bust still underway, now is a good a time as any to re-appreciate the Archers.
