Arkells

What is 30 feet and 3 inches tall and weighs 912 pounds? A few things probably, but also the Arkells. Five friends formed the band in Hamilton, Ontario, where they played softball together for a year before they played any music. In 2006 the band signed with Dine Alone Records, the label that also houses other bands you’ve heard of like Alexisonfire and Tokyo Police Club. Since then, the Arkells have been making waves on the Canadian music scene winning a CASBY Award, a Juno Award, and playing at the Much Music Video Awards. The group’s latest album, 2011’s Michigan Left, is a shake-your-booty indie-rock gold mine.
