Arsonists Get All The Girls
California’s young Arsonists Get All The Girls doesn’t add much to the extreme end of the metalcore spectrum, but at least the band helps tip the balance in favor of brutality and strangeness. With a start-stop grind blast scoured by samples and synths, it comes on like a less conceptually dense—and considerably filthier—Genghis Tron. The group has been through a lot over the last few years, including the death of bassist Patrick Mason from alcohol poisoning and the loss of vocalist Cameron Reed (who reportedly left the band because “God told him to”), but it’s soldiered on with new members and 2009’s Portals.
