Artist Atari Teenage Riot

A violent pile-up of hardcore, thrash, hip-hop, and drum-and-bass, there’s little about German electronic pioneers Atari Teenage Riot that falls shy of extreme. Overtly political and consistently confrontational, the band achieved widespread acclaim and a modicum of success during the period of the 1990s when synth-humping acts like The Prodigy looked like the future of pop. ATR’s time as underground music’s leading firebrand was cut short by the 2001 death of founding member Carl Crack, but a reconstituted version of the band eschewed its own Digital Hardcore Recordings in 2010 to sign with Dim Mak. This June, the band released Is This Hyperreal?, its fourth studio record and first since 2000.
