Atoms For Peace
Like the band he leads, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke seemingly likes to keep fans guessing. Sometimes literally—Yorke debuted a new band in Los Angeles last year under the moniker ????. That's precisely the sentiment of the Radiohead faithful when they learned Yorke's nameless project featured Flea (bassist of the sadly unkillable Red Hot Chili Peppers)—along with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and a couple lesser-knowns (Mauro Refosco of Forro In The Dark and session drummer Joey Waronker). Some time later, the band has a name, Atoms For Peace (taken from Yorke’s 2006 solo album, itself taken from a 1953 speech by President Eisenhower), and no plans beyond a few shows leading up to Coachella. Expect something strange but interesting.
