Artist August: Osage County

This rambling, three-act dark comedy focuses on a the reaction of an Oklahoma family to the disappearance of its alcoholic patriarch. Family members always know the best ways to push each others buttons, and the Westons are no exception. Beverly Weston’s absence leaves his pill-addicted wife and dysfunctional family to deal with the ramifications, unraveling their family’s history and secrets. Tracy Letts’ play picked up a Pulitzer Prize for drama and a Tony Award for best play in 2008. It will get the Hollywood treatment in 2013 with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts taking on the roles of the older and younger Weston women in the film adaptation.
