A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Baby Teeth

Lots of bands use their MySpace pages to bullshit about their influences and toss out non-sequiturs so as not to actually divulge their true influences, lest they be too embarrassing. But local band Baby Teeth is too proud of its classic-rock and power-pop touchstones not to cop to loving Diana Ross and Hall & Oates. But it's the double listing of Queen that's more apparent in the band's sound. The title track from the group's third album, Hustle Beach, pops with just the right amount of fuzzed-out guitars to anchor huge hooks while keyboard strains play on independently—it's as if Freddie Mercury is fronting Spoon.
