Badly Drawn Boy

Damon Gough, a.k.a. Badly Drawn Boy, the Mercury Prize-winning embodiment of the word “scruff,” toured in support of the About A Boy soundtrack by sometimes holding a laptop up to the microphone and singing along to his own tracks. His live sets sometimes run for hours, with plenty of time for off-topic rambling and occasional fits devoted to throwing things. Fortunately, Gough has the stellar songwriting chops to back up his drama. His brilliant debut, The Hour Of Bewilderbeast, is wonderfully unpredictable, and though he’s often traded that off-the-cuff charm for bombastic sheen, his newest releasethe hopefully titled It’s What I’m Thinking Part One: Photographing Snowflakes, is the first in a proposed trilogy designed to recapture those award-winning bursts of raw, creative energy.
