London's Band Of Skulls brews up a White Stripes-y version of Britpop with more than a dash of thumping rock to season the stew. It doesn’t hurt that the voice of guitarist and co-lead singer Russell Marsden bears a striking similarity to Jack White’s bluesy howl, as heard on the band’s recent debut, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey. Bassist Emma Richardson, who shares vocal duties, adds further depth, allowing the band to slow to a smolder on melancholy ballads like "Honest" and stoking the fire on the propulsive, dirty-blues-powered single "I Know What I Am."
