Artist Barcelona

Seattle-based indie-pop band Barcelona has the lush songwriting common to both Coldplay and Death Cab For Cutie, though vocalist and writer Brian Fennell’s breathy vocals and heart-on-sleeve emotionality make such comparisons deserved and not just de rigueur. The group is still touring behind the expanded 2009 re-release of its debut album,Absolutes. And, while the 2009 version of that full-length features some sleek production from Michael Brauer (Coldplay’s usual sonic engineer) to bolster Barcelona’s soaring sound, the trio’s 2011 tour may get a little tired without some fresh material in tow.
