The un-ironically cheery Belaire was on the verge of breakout success when it took a self-imposed hiatus—but when half of your band is in Voxtrot, such interruptions are unavoidable. While Jason Chronis and Matt Simon were out riding the Voxtrot juggernaut, Cari and Christa Palazzolo kept themselves busy crafting the songs for Belaire’s debut full-length, 2007’s Exploding Impacting, which added shades of gray to its Technicolor sound. After sporadic touring, another long break, and the loss of both Simon and Christa, the band is finally at work on a follow-up.
