Combining the minimalism of Brian Eno’s ambient work with the gloomy songwriting of Low, Madison's Bell Monks create melodic arrangements that often float upon a single idea—whether it’s the swinging pulse of “A Collar And A Chain” or the gentle New Age rhythms of “(I Hear) Stones”—and build upon said idea with quiet waves of baritone vocal hooks and meandering chord progressions on both keys and guitar.
