Belle And Sebastian
Precious and doughy and smart enough to be sly, Belle And Sebastian has been a peculiar case ever since it stormed bookstores and coffee shops with its perfect assimilation of Nick Drake, The Smiths, and everything else soft and wordy. The Scottish band fell out of favor for a brief moment, but 2003's Dear Catastrophe Waitress marked a welcome return to prominence continued by 2006’s The Life Pursuit, which found the group punching through songs as delicate and bashful as ever. Belle And Sebastian plays here behind the upcoming Write About Love, which features the guest vocals of An Education’s just-as-precious Carey Mulligan on the instructional title track.
