Big Boi
Those who have been holding their breath for a new Outkast album since 2006’s underperforming Idlewild are risking brain damage, as both André 3000 and his partner, Big Boi, have put the project on indefinite hold while each releases solo albums. The first, Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty, had been pushed back repeatedly before finally being released in early July 2010. Surprisingly, it proved worth the wait: Although André 3000 is generally credited for Outkast’s weirder moments, Lucious finds Big Boi plenty eccentric as well, but never sacrificing the bracingly catchy hip-hop that earned him a spot on plenty of year-end best-of lists.
