Big Star

Big Star is the kind of band that professed rock lifers will get a joy out of discovering for the rest of time. You listen to music young, get pretty seriously into it, start to poke around, and then come across a gem like Big Star—it's the kind of moment that makes it all worth weathering. The tale of Big Star's persistent obscurity has broken a bit, of course, but it has soaked in deep too. The enterprise got a big boost in 2009 with the release of a great Rhino box-set called Keep An Eye On The Sky, so hopefully mastermind Alex Chilton will do well by his legacy here.
