Bill Frisell

Bill Frisell

As Bill Frisell’s reputation for innovative, improvisational jazz-guitar work expanded over three decades, so did his list of collaborators, eventually encompassing both John Zorn and Elvis Costello. His discography includes a considerable run of widely varied solo albums—Floratone found Frisell chopping up and looping his own eclectic jams into new configurations after playing them, while 2008’s History, Mystery comprises short works written for a guitar-and-strings octet, as well as a multimedia collaboration with comic-book artist Jim Woodring. Frisell’s latest album, Lagrimas Mexicanas, recorded with Brazilian bossa nova specialist Vinicius Cantuária, adds Latin flair to his burgeoning sound palette.
