Artist Bitch

Bitch's way of splashing together arrangements as bright and chaotic as her stage outfits gives her act a great deal more warmth and musical versatility than most musicians who call themselves both radicals and singer-songwriters. Formerly a member of the duo Bitch And Animal (which put out three albums on Righteous Babe), Bitch wields electric violin and bass rather than the standard acoustic guitar, and pitches her voice somewhere between competent pop and free-rambling spoken-word. On Blasted, her second solo album, the oft-distorted fiddles and vocal outbursts have the run of the tracks, from the spirited bounce of "Open Up" to the reeling psych-punk of "Bugs." Better still, Bitch's abundant eccentricity just seems to come naturally, not as some forced dramatic gesture.
