Black Kids

Black Kids’ repertoire of jangly indie rock surprisingly isn’t made in England, despite the Brit(ish) lilt of singer Reggie Youngblood. After last year’s four-song EP, Wizard Of Ahhhs, made good with the blogosphere, Black Kids put out their debut, Partie Traumatic, last July. It’s along the same sound lines as Wizard, but received a lashing from Pitchfork, who decided to forego a proper review in favor of a photo of two dogs looking puzzled. But Traumatic is just a straight-up good time, not worth avoiding because of any perceived hype.
