Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper once churned out noisy pop songs that exploded haphazardly in every direction, but recently it has taken to blatantly aping the stalwarts of classic American rock ’n’ roll—most obviously The Band, Neil Young, and The Beatles. On 2008’s Furr, Blitzen Trapper did a reasonable job cranking out facsimiles of legitimately great tunes, and after the miscued detour of 2010’s Destroyers Of The Void, the 2011 album American Goldwing revisits the bygone glory days of 2008 and delivers a masterful homage to no-frills ’70s Southern rock.
