Blueheels
On their first two albums, 2006's Long Gone and 2008's Lessons In Sunday Driving, Madison's Blueheels made a roots-rock standby of themselves, getting louder and rougher as they went. They've since branched out into a less-classifiable style, keeping such core elements as Robby Schiller's nasal, mix-dominating vocals and Justin Bricco's busy lead guitar. "Landmines," due out soon as a 7-inch teaser from the band's next album, is a sign of the changes, still a little twangy but building up more gradually and freely over Adam Cargin's thudding drums.
