Bobby Long

His spare, acoustic ballads, gravelly voice, and prodigious harmonica blowing may not be enough to distinguish Britain’s young Bobby Long from other Dylan-esque folk-revivalists like Conor Oberst or The Felice Brothers—but then, none of those guys are buddies with actor Robert Pattinson. The Twilight star got his friend’s lonesome ballad “Let Me Sign” on the extended version of the film’s soundtrack, and it launched him full-force into a world of screaming, crying female fans before he’d even released an album. His debut full-length, A Winter’s Tale, just came out on ATO Records, and has left some of those pre-existing fans meh-ing through its orchestrated ditties and overwrought fuzz guitar. Still, it should appeal to some non Twi-Hards, and that was probably the goal.
