Artist Boulder Acoustic Society

Colorado’s Boulder Acoustic Society dabbles in unplugged traditional music from Appalachia’s porches to Ireland’s barstools. This might not make for a particularly original sound, except when the band mixes some punk-rock ranting into its warm and well-balanced ensemble of fiddles, ukulele, banjo, guitar, and upright bass. It also helps that BAS embraces percussion more than a more traditional string band would, lending some extra thump and heft to its 2009 album, Punchline, and its followup, 2010’s Champion Of Disaster EP.
