Is it already time to be looking for the next MGMT? The UK press seems to think so, and it’s latched onto the batch of Brooklyn electro upstarts known as Boy Crisis as the band most likely. The group’s unabashed love of early Prince, Studio 54 hedonism, and Thriller-era Michael Jackson is all over its sexed-up synth rock, which burbles like a city that should really get some sleep but is too wired to stop pitching woo like, “Let me love you like you’re the shit, girl.” Add some Justin Timberlake ooh-ing, daft references to Woodrow Wilson, and some digital handclaps and you have something likely to get a crowd jumping.
