Boy Dirt Car

Formed in 1981, Milwaukee’s Boy Dirt Car has long served as an on-again, off-again experimental outlet for some of the area’s most diverse, noise-minded musicians. An ever-fluctuating cast of characters—including Die Kreuzen’s Keith Brammer and Dan Kubinski—has kept things fresh over the years, though a strict adherence to dark, brooding soundscapes has remained constant. The band will celebrate its 30th anniversary at tonight’s show, but don’t expect a sepia-toned walk down memory lane—far from a nostalgia act, the group has two recent releases under its belt, Familia and Treacherous Young Witches. Both are uncompromising and rewarding sonic explorations—full of chilly ambiance and tightly-wound sonic freakouts—and both continue to push BDC’s aggressive, longstanding aural agenda.
