Brandon Flowers

Best known as the frontman for new-wave revivalists The Killers, Brandon Flowers is only now venturing into solo material as the group takes a short hiatus. Flamingo, released this fall, features songs originally written for The Killers, though the material is inspired by two majorly personal events in Flowers’ life: the birth of his second son and the death of his mother. The record runs the gamut from electro-arena rockers to pedal-steel-infused blues-rock, features guest vocals from Jenny Lewis, and was produced by Daniel Lanois, Stuart Price, and Brendan O’Brien. The first single, “Crossfire,” is a slow burner in the Springsteen mode, and boasts a video starring a Lara Croft-aping Charlize Theron rescuing Flowers from some nasty ninjas.
