Even for a dude who epitomized hair-metal excess and starred on a dating show as sleazy as Rock Of Love, Bret Michaels hasn’t had the healthiest of years. While performing onstage with Poison at the Tony Awards in June 2009, the singer was bludgeoned by a piece of rogue scenery; 10 months later, he was hospitalized for a succession of maladies that began with an emergency appendectomy and ended with doctors discovering a hole in his heart. His swift return to performing was either a testament to pure foolhardiness or a shoring up of his bad-boy credentials, which might take yet another solid hit when Michaels’ line of rock ’n’ roll clothing for animals hits PetSmart in summer 2012.
