Even for a dude who epitomized hair-metal excess and starred on a dating show as sleazy as Rock Of Love, Bret Michaels hasn’t had the healthiest of years. While performing on stage with Poison at the Tony Awards in June 2009, the singer was bludgeoned by a piece of rogue scenery; 10 months later, he was hospitalized for a succession of maladies that began with an emergency appendectomy and ended with doctors discovering a hole in his heart. There’s no telling whether his swift return to performing is pure foolhardiness or a shoring up of his bad-boy credentials, but Michaels probably needs to see audiences flick their Bics for “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” now more than ever.
