Brian McKnight

At the beginning of his career in the early ’90s, Brian McKnight looked destined to be just another velvety smooth, one-hit balladeer. But almost two decades later, McKnight has had crossover success with pop and Christmas albums and savvy (though sometimes forced) applications of current musical trends. In recent years, McKnight has added Celebrity Apprentice contestant and “host of a short-lived talk show” to his résumé, but he returned to what he does best on 2009’s Evolution Of A Man, a collection of soothing ballads featuring collaborations with Jill Scott and Stevie Wonder. Recently, McKnight released his fourteenth album, Just Me, a two-disc record featuring new work as well as live versions of older material described as “fan pleasing.”
