Brokencyde employs a smoke-screen tactic of hurling piles of offensive lyrics, nauseating color schemes, and obnoxious screaming, singing, and rapping over garbage-dump beats to disguise the complete lack of talent that goes into barfing up its “crunk punk.” But once anti-Brokencyde groups (led by mothers and music fans alike) started to pop up online, the group became critic-proof: After all, nothing could be more fun for kids looking for ways to rebel than applauding the group’s frightening misogyny, intense love of Crunk Juice, and complete contempt for music. The group’s new album, Guilty Pleasure, offers still more crunked-up party anthems that ask vital questions like “U Mad Bro?”
