Buffalo Tom
A cult band that always seemed on the precipice of something bigger, Buffalo Tom released some of the strongest indie-rock records of the ’90s—particularly 1992’s Let Me Come Over and 1993’s Big Red Letter Day—but never broke through like some of its contemporaries. By the end of the ’90s, though, the toll of more than a decade of grinding it out as a semi-popular band took its toll, and the group entered a lengthy hiatus. It reactivated in 2007 with an appearance at SXSW and a new album, Three Easy Pieces, following it up with the recently released Skins.
