Candy Claws started out as the humble songwriting project of Ryan Hover and Kay Bertholf, based on the concept of writing extravagant freak-folk songs laden with dreamy atmosphere and thought-provoking textures. Once the duo finally found a handful of other musicians to flesh out its meandering soundscapes, everything fell into line. During the summer of 2010, Candy Claws got plenty of love from Pitchfork, embarked on a cross-country tour, and released its second full-length,Hidden Lands. This year, Hover and Bertholf are putting together a weekly video series, Candy Claws In Dreamland (which kicked off last month), while they record new material.
