CANT

CANT is the new solo moniker of Chris Taylor, best known as the bass player for psych-folk favorites Grizzly Bear. On his debut LP, Dreams Come True—released last month on his own Terrible Records—Taylor collaborated with George Lewis Jr., the man behind buzzy new wave act Twin Shadow. Dreams is a showcase in Taylor flexing his production muscle. On it, he cultivates a chilly soundscape, with his own ghostly vocals proving plenty capable. The album hits heavily on Lewis Jr.’s sterile ‘80s synths while not losing the experimental groove of Grizzly Bear. In all, CANT is what you’d expect: indulgent artiness with the chops to back it up.
