Carlos Mencia might be the only person in comedy who’s grateful for the rise of Jeff Dunham—if only because the popularity of Dunham and his unfunny-stereotypes-cum-puppets give comedy fans and other comedians someone to hate more than Mencia. The guy could certainly use the break, given the roller-coaster career he had during the ’00s, where his public perception went from outspoken truth-teller to unapologetic joke thief in the space of a few years. Three years on from the cancellation of his massively popular Comedy Central sketch show, Mind Of Mencia, the comedian returns to his comedy-club roots with new—ahem, “new”—assuredly apoplectic, baldly politically incorrect material.
