Artist Carrie Rodriguez

Fiddler Carrie Rodriguez boasts nimble fingers and a flexible voice—going from dramatic to flippant on songs that span country and gospel influences, as well as shiny pop singles—but she’s spent much of the last few years singing other peoples’ songs. 2010’s Love And Circumstance featured takes on cuts by Hank Williams, Ry Cooder, and Nick Lowe; meanwhile, her album of duets with Romantica frontman Ben Kyle, We Still Love Our Country, mixed fresh collaborative efforts with haunting, harmonized revisions of Townes Van Zandt, Hazel Houser, and Rodriguez’s old partner, Chip Taylor.
