That Castevet classifies itself as an indie band should really tip the scales in finally retiring what has become a meaningless marketing term. “Indie” might conjure many different sounds, but not head-crushing death-metal squawks, blast beats, and blistering riffs. Call it what you will: The local quartet plays loud enough to silence such pointless debates. (Although metal-punk is the basic ballpark.) All anyone needs to know about the band is this: It's loud as fuck and has no problem drawing to a hushed silence without a moment’s notice. Castevet's newThe Echo And The Light EP is the first release by UK imprint Big Scary Monsters’ US division.
