Carl Johns' time in Madison music included the founding of two well-liked ventures into pleasantly odd pop, NoahJohn and Charlemagne. He's since moved on to the East Coast and his current home of Berlin, and last played here in 2007 behind the Charlemagne album We Can Build An Island. Some of the demos he's put online recently offer a noisier version of Charlemagne, with lots of fuzzed-out but friendly guitars skating over the comfort-pop melodies.
