Artist Chase Coy

Chase Coy is a teenaged version of Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba in the body of a slightly older Justin Bieber (replete with swoopy bangs and a cloying gaze). And though this year’s Picturesque has all the makings of a decent singer-songwriter album—sweeping melodies, hypersensitive lyrics, a nearly perfect ratio of acoustic guitar to piano—overall, it’s a monotonous effort. It’s less about “beauty and self-discovery,” which Coy’s self-written bio encourages fans to find through his music, than boring self-indulgence. Youthful ignorance is only tolerable to a point, so here's hoping Coy soon realizes that he still has a lot of growing up to do.
