Chris Botti
Trumpeter Chris Botti is the quintessential pop-jazz man, as evidenced on his own recordings as well as his session and tour work for other artists. Botti’s big break came in 1990 when he was invited to join Paul Simon’s band after years of playing on records by artists like Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin. Botti finally released his solo debut, First Wish, in 1995, though he later joined another aging pop star, Sting, on tour in 2001. In recent years, Botti has dabbled in orchestral jazz—2007’s Italia featured appearances by Andrea Bocelli, Paula Cole, and the voice of Dean Martin, and the new Chris Botti In Boston finds him performing with the Boston Pops.
