Chromeo
Like a lot of electronic artists spun out of hip circles, electro “lovers’ funk” duo Chromeo nimbly blends irony and genuine respect into a sexy synth-pop sound. The band followed up 2007’s Fancy Footwork with 2010’s Business Casual, which piles cheap-sounding synths, creating a few tracks that could have doubled as the score for Beverly Hills Cop. But the duo of Dave 1 and P-Thugg—“the only successful Arab/Jew partnership since the dawn of human culture,” according to the duo’s bio—play just the kind of party-starting jams that fill floors in the right context.
