Cinematic Titanic

The bemused B-movie bashers of Mystery Science Theater 3000 still enjoy a strong cult following after going off the air in 1999, but none of the many talented comics the show spawned found much breakaway success afterward. So it follows they’d return to similar projects: Former host Mike Nelson started MP3 download service Rifftrax, which offers pre-recorded MST3K-like commentary, and Joel Hodgson, the original host and creator, now heads up Cinematic Titanic. Hodgson’s new show hews closer to the classic format of guys in silhouette mocking Z-grade movies, and it also features familiar cast members like Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, Elvis Weinstein, and Mary Jo Pehl.
