Citay
Citay was born out of a studio collaboration between Fucking Champs guitarist Tim Green and Piano Magic member Ezra Feinberg, but soon proved too big for the one room, and eventually grew into a stage show with a rotating cast of musicians. Originating in San Francisco, the New York group’s pseudo-’70s acoustic/electric instrumentation blends xylophones with plenty of pedal-effected guitars, all complemented by male and female harmonies. On its latest, 2010’s Dream Get Together, Citay’s ax-men shred furiously with clean, mathematical precision, but never sacrifice melody (or nuance) in the service of rocking out.
