Colin Hay
Just as Men At Work became unlikely superstars in the early ’80s after constant exposure on MTV, bandleader Colin Hay somehow sidestepped almost-certain one-hit wonderdom by establishing a surprisingly enduring solo career in the ’90s and ’00s. (And, for the record, Men At Work had two hits, “Who Can It Be Now?” and “Down Under.”) While his old band was known for pop-friendly new wave, Hay’s solo work hews to the wistful singer-songwriter template on albums like 2007’s Are You Looking At Me, 2009’s American Sunshine, and 2011's Gathering Mercury. But if you ask really nicely, he’ll likely play an old Men At Work chestnut or two.
