A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Constantines

Toronto’s Constantines are signed to Arts & Crafts, but they don’t have a lot in common with labelmate Broken Social Scene, showing far more restraint in carving out their own indie-rock niche. Last year’s Kensington Heights—which the Associated Press named “Rock Album Of The Year”—finds the band at the zenith of its powers: punching the air with songs that employ live-wire bursts in restrained fashion, with even the mellowest spells ready to crack open at any moment.
