Corrosion Of Conformity
Corrosion Of Conformity has lived a long life, likely due to its uncanny ability to buck musical trends while also exemplifying them. Formed as a trio in the early 1980s, the band rode the rise and fall of thrash before becoming seemingly obsessed with Black Sabbath and Southern rock on records like 1994’s Deliverance. Of course, that increased heaviness served to ingratiate the band with fans of then-hip alternative metal, a revival of interest that carried Corrosion Of Conformity into the 21st century. With erstwhile frontman Pepper Keenan taking an extended leave of absence to play with metal supergroup Down, the original trio of Mike Dean, Reed Mullin, and Woody Weatherman appears here to grind out material from a 2012 self-titled LP, as well as classics from the band’s punky, politically charged days.
