Artist Crash Kings

  • Crash Kings

Crash Kings is the most straightforwardly rocking piano-led band to emerge since the dissolution of the Ben Folds Five. But while there was always a dose of slacker irony to BFF songs whenever bassist Robert Sledge laid into the fuzz bass, key-pounding Crash Kings frontman Tony Beliveau’s growl has a distinctly modern-rock radio quality to it, indicating his band is 100-percent sincere in its use of distortion. The band might be a ways off from its own introspective curveball à la The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, but the anthemic “My Love” does lend a glimpse at some stadium-filling bombast.
