CSS, short for Cansei De Ser Sexy in Portuguese, actually translates to “got tired of being sexy.” With a name like that, it wouldn’t be insane to expect the São Paulo, Brazil-based dance-rock band to bring the sexy in its live show. As one of the many bands to score a hit via an iPod commercial (its “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” backed an ad for the Touch in 2007), CSS is a given dance floor-ready act, especially if you’re a white silhouette on a brightly colored background. To date, the group’s released three albums, Cansei De Ser Sexy, Donkey, and the recent La Liberación. All should please fans of the band’s breakout hit, but none of them do much to establish an identity beyond that.
