Artist Cult Of Youth

The opening track on Cult Of Youth’s self-titled album is infallibly epic, but tinged with uncertainty. It’s a quintessential representation of the brooding Brooklynites’ dark neo-folk sound that fuses shaky guitars, Celtic-inspired strings, and the passionate, quivering howls of singer Sean Ragon, whose vocals jump without hesitation from a punk-style snarl to a breathy, post-industrial bellow. Don’t be fooled by the chanting choruses and shadowy bass lines—the group’s fan base goes beyond goat-sacrificing, moonstone-worshipping pagans of the night. Cult Of Youth is a steam engine churning out metal anthems, saturated lyrics, and a vulnerability that’s both universal and unnerving.
