iO isn’t exactly glutted with sketch-comedy performances, so that Cupid Has A Heart On: A Musical Guide To Relationships is one of its more enduring shows speaks volumes about its quality. While musicals aren’t for everyone, anyone can connect with a show hinging entirely on failed romances and relationships. Executive producer/director Brian Posen's involvement alone should cause audiences to come flocking (he’s a senior faculty-at-large at Second City), but the sheer breadth of the show helps it stand ably on its own. Songs about calling up a bitchy ex to gloat about winning the lottery, a catchy barbershop quartet group number about liking someone just as a friend, and others may not require repeat visits to fully enjoy, but everyone will walk away still laughing and humming something.
