Dappled Cities
Dappled Cities shortened its name from Dappled Cities Fly after releasing A Smile in late 2004, but the Australian quintet certainly hasn’t reigned in its goofy, sweeping vision of what pop should be—2007’s flamboyant Granddance proves it, coming off like showtunes for indie-rockers with kazoos in place of trumpets and plenty of go-for-broke falsettos. This taste for the epic extends to the band’s most famous cover: a collaboration with former tourmates Red Riders on Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain.”
