Das Racist
Das Racist's absurdist, viral-as-all-hell anthem "Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell" isn't a song so much as a joke. Or maybe it's a piece of performance art masquerading as a song that's masquerading as a joke, but which isn't really a joke at all. Maybe it’s trenchant social commentary (but probably not). One could speculate in the same manner about the Brooklyn hip-hop duo itself, which melds clever commentary with an irascible sense of play. The songs come off as the products of a Williamsburg house band, ensconced within a rapidly changing scene but possessing enough perspective to know exactly how to mock it.
