Das Racist

Das Racist made its first foray into officially released music with its great 2011 debut LP, Relax. The album, like the group’s two superlative 2010 mixtapes—Shut Up, Dude and Sit Down, Man—is packed with ephemeral pop culture references amidst a trenchant deconstruction of rap. (“I’m fucking great at rapping,” Heems says, reducing hip-hop history into one bar.) The group’s current tour is something of a victory lap, as the group has more than one song people have heard. (Like the group, we refuse to acknowledge the continued relevance of “Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell.”)
